The ‘Shallow Wells and Green Cover Development in Jawadhu Hills Range’ project being undertaken by Hand in Hand Switzerland in partnership with Audemars-Watkins Foundation, NABARD, and Hand in Hand India focuses on increasing the density of the Jawadhu Hills Forest in Tamil Nadu, India, through alternative irrigation methods for tribal farmers. Commenced in April 2022 for a period of 3 years, the project has 3 objectives, namely, creating 300 shallow wells as alternative irrigation sources; establishing 300 acres of horticulture plantations; and training 300 tribal farmers in water conservation, plantation maintenance, and joint forest management.
